Description The project represents an expansion of project MADE I and aims at further consolidating the Egyptian marine aquaculture sector by taking into account the local economic and ecological needs (sustainable and responsible approach). MADE II intends to support private enterprises to increase their overall production according to international standards. Italy would offer technology, productive capacity, and know-how. The partnership between Egypt and Italy would draw model for mutual interest in the Mediterranean Sea.
Expected Results 1.      Define marine aquaculture strategy/ Road map for the support of the private farmers

2.      Establish a model pond farm (integrating rearing system) operating for the production and extensions service.

3.      Establish a veterinary laboratory operating for the support of disease control in private farms (extension service)

4.      Establishment of a marine hatchery through new technology/know how exchange

5.      Enhance the capacities of GAFRD to assist the private sector as well as its human resources.

Indirect beneficiaries:

–          Egyptian concerned Institutions (Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, Governorates, Ministry of Defense)
