Description The project was a continuation of “Safer Environment for Children- Phase I”, funded under Phase II of the IEDS. The project extended its successful interventions to 4 new districts in Cairo and Alexandria Governorates, aiming to improve the living conditions of children at risk and their families in the most marginalized areas and to strengthen the protection system for children-at-risk in Egypt. It will provide a comprehensive package that will reduce families’ poverty through capacity building and microloans, to enable them to better support and protect their children. It also aimed at strengthening the capacities of civil society organizations and improve their services for children-at-risk and their families. Moreover, the proposed intervention aimed to activate three new District Child Protection Committees (DCPCs) in Cairo Governorate, build their capacities and support their protection interventions. Community members’ awareness of child protection related issues were to be promoted through child-led initiatives and art competitions.
