Description The project’s aim was to upgrade waste recycling workshops in many Zabaleen systems neighborhoods in three Governorates – Cairo, Giza, and Qalubiya – through providing new machines or retooling existing ones and creating some 400 new jobs, in addition to the indirect jobs related to the upstream and downstream activities. The project also aimed to contribute to improving the unsafe conditions of the workers through the supply of safety protection wears, extinguishers and training of workers.
Expected Results Around 450 permanent jobs created in addition to the indirect jobs related to the upstream and downstream activities (collection, transportation, sorting and etc., approximately hundreds of new jobs); 150 recycling workshops upgraded; 450 workshops owners, tenants and workers trained in safety procedures.
